Merry Christmas from the Ts

Merry Christmas everyone!  Wishing you a wonderful, blessed, Christmas Eve and Day filled with joy and wonder and love.  Teaghan and Tommy are happy and healthy and are growing and growing and growing.  They are both around 12 lbs now.  Tommy will continue to get bigger.  They haven't slowed down too much yet with how much they want to eat daily.  They do get lots of exercise running up and down our stairs and chasing each other but they could still use some more.  That's our goal for 2018.  More exercise for them will help to keep them healthy and trim.  Teaghan sort of looks like a furry basketball... LOL!

Beau Beau and Angie pretty much left our Christmas trees alone.  I think it's because they got to go outside so it wasn't such a big deal to them, and we kept the ornaments up higher.  We still miss them more than anything but it's truly a joy to have the Ts in our lives now.  They certainly keep us busy!

Since the Ts get into EVERYTHING and EAT EVERYTHING, and will still try to chew on cords but not as much as before, and it's their first Christmas we decided to put the tree outside.  We also were going to be on vacation for a week and it wouldn't have been fair to have our friend and cat sitter to have to teach them what a Christmas tree is!  This way we all get to enjoy the tree and the lights with no worries.  Next year we'll try it with a huge tree inside and see what happens.

Christmas here in the Swick/Bentley household is going to be a pretty quiet one.  Wishing everyone all the happiness and joy in the world.

Blessings!

Tommy and Teaghan Wegie Update

Teaghan may turn out to be my new little blogger

Where did the summer go???  My last post was in July.  Geez.  I just can't seem to make a decision about my blogging voice. Once Beau Beau was gone that was it.  I knew it was time for a change but now that I have Tommy and Teaghan in my life I haven't found a new voice for them.  So I'm still working on that and thinking about what direction I want to take.  Until then I will just write as myself and give updates on T&T.

Tommy and Teaghan at 6 months
They are different than Beau Beau and Angie.  Physically, They are almost 7 months old now and are HUGE for kittens. They were both altered last month. As "Wegies" (Norwegian Forest cats) they are really furry yet they don't seem to shed much at all.  In fact the only fur I find is what gets blown around when they play fight. I only comb them once a week and very little comes off them. They have beautiful almond shaped eyes and long really furry tails.  Relationship-wise, they are like a very close couple while BB&A just tolerated each other quietly.  Tommy and Teaghan spend a lot of time keeping each other happy, chasing, playing, and grooming each other.  They are still very kittenish with that high energy, yet their quiet time personality and bonding with us is really strengthening.  I have been finding it hard to capture them in photos though - mostly because they are often in motion!  I give their Mommy Colleen a lot of credit for being able to take all the photos she did while she raised them until I got them.

Tommy is a gentle giant type. He is like velcro to me.  He's either trying to wrap himself around my neck or laying on me when I'm sleeping or trying to sleep that is... So he's a mamma's boy for sure and he's been close to me right from the start.  Tommy weighs in at 9.2 lbs now and his fur is slowly changing, getting thicker. He jumps higher and farther than any cat I've had.  From the edge of the bedroom dresser to the bed, he flew over 7 feet.  And he jumps to the top of a high dresser I have (51 inches) like it was nothing.  Yet, for a big boy he makes little eeep sounds when he's hunting, usually for a stray fly here and there.
Tommy - 6 months
Teaghan is more independent, and like her mommy Colleen said, she likes to take time to analyze things.  She has warmed up to me and has become affectionate.  If I pick her up she will immediately settle herself in my arms and start purring.  She doesn't feel the need to cling to me like Tommy does.  Funny, as I just typed that, she came up to me and wanted to drape herself over me.  She then walked over the computer and around it and was laying on my arm purring up a storm.  Maybe she's trying to tell me something!  Maybe this time Teaghan wants to talk!  She will come and lay in my lap if I lay on the couch.  I very rarely watch tv so I have had to make the time to do that for a little just so she can have some quiet time with me.  Teaghan seems to have a light bouncy energy and she prances about especially when I talk to her.

Teaghan 6 months
I'm learning more about Tommy and Teaghan every day.  As I'm getting to know them even better I'm still not sure what direction I want to take the blog.  I'm feeling like I'm waiting for something and I don't know what that is.  Maybe I just need a streak of creativity to hit me.  Maybe it's just not time yet.  In the meantime, I will continue to post now and then with updates on them.  They are a slow maturing breed so it'll be interesting to see how they grow.

Blessings!

Sunday Selfies Game

Tomas and Teaghan have taken their own selfie and even bought (almost lol) their first game app for the iPad! The funniest part of all is that when the app asks to verify it is a human buying the game it took me 3 tries to finally buy the thing!

Here is Teaghan playing the laser one. I have to say they are much more interested in the mousie games more than any laser or fish iPad game.

Took me 3 tries to get my fingers on this to purchase it.  I think T & T could have done it faster...

This is Tommy taking his selfie by himself!

Have a great week efurryone!  I'm still thinking about a new blog name and goal.  I've narrowed it down, some options were not available on blogger.  I may also be adding a spiritual component, like Cathy did wayyyyy back when she had Beau's bloggie.   Anyone here remember Cathy and Beau?

Sunday Selfies - Independence Day Weekend

Sunday Selfie - Independence Day weekend

Kittens - 18 weeks old

Tommy and Teaghan are eating and eating and growing and growing.  Tommy now weighs in at approx 2.72 kg (6 lbs) and Teaghan is 2.44 kg.  (5.38 lbs).  They are no longer so little.  Tommy is already the size of Beau Beau when he was six months old!  They get tons of exercise which only makes them hungrier I think.  They truly are so much fun to watch and play with.  Tommy jumps on my lap, on my shoulders and wraps himself around my neck, sleeps next to me and comes when I call (and the second he hears a ting of his food plate).  Teaghan sleeps next to my leg at night, but more so in the early morning.  Last night was the first time he actually went to sleep in my lap.  She also knows my voice and comes running when I call her name.  They both are simply adorable.  Still thinking of a new blog name.  Mostly it's a combination of my procrastination and unsure what I want to accomplish with a new blog.  So for now:

Here are this weeks selfies:

Teaghan photo bombed by Tommy.  She likes to sit on her paws like that.  So cute.

Kitten teefies!  (Teaghan) . How would you like those sharp daggers puttin' da bitey on you huh? LOL!

Sunday Selfie - Tommy and Teaghan

Sunday Selfie - Tommy and Teaghan

First, Happy Father's Day to our new Dad and to all those celebrating this day.  And our new human beans are celebrating the most blessed father of all - our Lord, today and every day.

We are still contemplating what to name our new blog and if it will be a full new website or just Blogger. So we will continue to post here until that name and the best path to go on pops into the Mom's head.  She liked the name "The Two Ts" but that ends up looking like "The Twots".  Hahaha. Plus that name is already taken if you can believe it!  Feel free to post any suggestions if you would like.

Tommy and Teaghan just turned 16 weeks old on June 16!   Some humans wanted to know how to tell them apart.  Teaghan is on the left and Tommy on the right.  See how he has a white heart on his back?  When they went for their exam at the v.e.t., the doc thought it looked like a "T".  This picture is not a selfie but the Mom has been taking a squillion pictures of them and this shows how big they are getting already.  They were sharing one dish here but usually they each get their own dish.

These are a little more selfie-like.  Tommy is caught in the act of sticking his tongue out.  He actually was standing there on the stool in a gopher pose.  He's a funny boy!
Tommy
Teaghan is sitting in her favorite spot on the dining room chair getting ready for her after brunch nap.  She's harder to get a good selfie of so this was a good catch.  All the other close ups true selfie style were too blurry.  Lots more pictures to come.

Teaghan and Tomas' First Week at Home

Teaghan and Tomas
Born 24-Feb-2017
First day of their new forever home - 03-Jun-2017

Teaghan and Tomas (or Tommy) are now home!  Here's how their first week went:

First, Mommy Brenda (MB) and Daddy (aka the food man) went to Mommy Colleen's (MC's) house to pick them up.  It was a 2-1/2 hr trip by car.  It was a pretty ride and they were excited to finally meet T & T and Mommy Colleen and MC's Mom too.

Their first meeting was very nice.  Mommie Colleen brought T&T out with their furry beautiful Mom McKenzie.  She made them feel nice and relaxed and gave them lots of love while they were waiting to be introduced to the new 'rents.  Everyone was nice and relaxed before they went into the carrier to get ready for the ride to their new house.  This is the picture of the Ts with McKenzie in a carrier on the table while they all got to know each other's smells.

McKenzie, Tomas, and Teaghan (in the back)

After a nice visit, and lots of love and instructions and gifts, and more loves, and friendship, it was time to go. Here they are in their carrier while on the way to their new home. Teaghan was as quiet as could be while Tomas sang the song of his people every 5 minutes or so and tested the metal to make sure it would hold them both until they arrived at their new home.
Teaghan and Tomas in their carrier on the ride to their new home
Wow!  Once they got to their new home, they had the joy of discovering a new place to cozy up.  It was a gift from their new Godmother, Charlotte, who used to watch us and now will watch them sometimes when the 'rents go away on vacation.  They seemed to take to it quite well didn't they?  Look at Teaghan trying to get into the tube when Tomas had already claimed it as his own!

Yep - there was plenty of room in there for the both of them!

Eventually, they made their way to the bed and checked out everything from top to bottom!

One night they started to discover other things like the light.  Who knew that the little shiny things on the lamp would capture their attention so much?

Little by little they settled in even more.  Look at Teaghan showing off her toesies!

By day 3 Teaghan was relaxed enuf to just fall asleep and hang out of the kitty condo!

By day 4, T&T were finally let out of the 'rents bedroom and access to Mommy's home office.  They really liked it in there cuz it was nice and bright and they were looking at all kinds of things out of the window including birdies flying by, and cars going by and birdies oh my!

Here they are again just chillin' out in their kitty condo after a big eating session and ready for some much needed sleep.

Then came the day they went to get their first visit with their new V.E.T.  Daddy was so happy cuz he got to finally hold Tomas!  Now you have to know that Daddy doesn't smile too much so this was a good time :-).  Everything checked out ok and we and they knew it would because Mommie Colleen is the bestest Mommie EVER and T&T were fine.

Day six and here are Teaghan and Tomas hanging out together in Mommies home office first thing in the morning.

Every day is a new step and a new learning.  Some endings (leaving home) have to happen to have a new beginning (different home).  Love abounds always.  We learn and grow.  We live and love.
Now we leave these two lovely blessed kittens to start their new journey.

Stay tuned for the beginning of their new blog and a journey into their new lives.

Purrs and love from over the bridge,
Beau Beau and Angie

Throwback Thursday and Tails

Throwback Thursday

I've been seeing lots of pictures of fluffy tailed cats lately and thought I'd show a couple of Angie from way back.  I know she's watching from over the bridge and sometimes I still catch a flash of white flying by out of the corner of my eye.  Pretty soon a couple more flashy white kitten loves will be here at the house to watch and learn from.  Angie will be guiding them from above.  :-)

Sunday Selfie Catch up Weeks

Sunday Selfie

We are late today with our Sunday Selfies but better late than never.  I'm off with my weeks for the Selfies for Tomas and Teagan and had wanted to capture them each week while I'm getting pics of them from their Mom Colleen.  So I'm playing catch up for Weeks 6 & 7.

Here are a few pics for some more squeeeeeeness!  They are growing so fast and you can see the changes in them.

Week 6:

They both weighed 2 lbs.  They take pawsome selfies don't they? (with the help of their Mom Colleen)!  She reports that it is very hard to get clear pics because they are always moving so fast.

Teaghan Week 6 - look at the size of her paw!
Tomas Week 6 - Such a lover face!

Week 7

Teaghan - Week 7 - 2lbs, 5 1/2 oz

Tomas - Week 7 - 2 lbs 5 oz.
Tomas is doing his man-cat in training move on that ball!  More of those stories to come on future Mancat Monday posts.

That's it for now.  Thanks for looking at our selfies!

The Poop Story - Week 5

Tomas with his favorite red ball.

This is a picture of Tomas from last week when he was 5 weeks old!  Does he look like a kitten calendar poster boy or what?  We didn't do a Sunday Selfie last week but wanted to tell you the poop story.

Last week Tomas was the first one to eat canned kitten food and he and Teaghan were nibbling on dry food. Which leads to... poop... then leads to using the litter pan!  First a little tootsie sized poop was found in the box.  Mom Colleen and I were waiting to see what happened with the litter and who would cover up their poop!  Tomas and Teaghan delivered... literally... and are covering their poop! Now you would think that this is a natural event but it seems that some cats do not cover up their poop. MOL!  For instance, one of my brothers has a farm in Maine and had some Maine coon mix kittens that were born in one of the barns last year.  The story goes that they apparently never covered their poop!  He had never seen this before but there it was... poop left out in the open.  Why is this, you wonder?  One theory is that some cats (an alpha cat for example) leave their poop for other cats to cover up.  I'm not sure of other reasons, but whatever they are, Tomas and Teaghan knew what to do.

Teaghan has a question...
Teaghan is wondering if other kittens and cats cover their poop?  Do you have a poop story to tell?

Sunday Selfies Kittens Week 4

Sunday Selfie - Week 4

This week Tomas is now 604g (1 lb 5 3/8 oz)!  And Teaghan weighs in again with the load of the week award at a whopping 630 g! (1 lb 6 1/4 oz).   We think she gets the BBK award - Big Beautiful Kitten!  MOL!  Tomas gets the floofy tail of the week award.  Look at that happy tail high up in the air!   We can also see their irises now.  Mommy Colleen reports, "if you look close Tomas has lite red smudges on his cheeks and a red dot above his nose pad."  He looks like his Daddy, Into Wishin Rio Samba.   Teaghan has little red smudges on her face from her Mommy, Finnishline McKenzie!
