Kitties Cooking on Sunday

Hahahaha!  No seriously, we did not do da cooking, but we kept pace in da kitchen to oversee what food fing was going on.

Apple Pancake - Gluten and Lactose Free

Apples:
3 large green apples (you can use more if you like) - peeled, cored and sliced.
3 tablespoons sugar (we only used one but it would probably be better with 3)
1 tsp cinnamon
2 Tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
5 tablespoons parve margarine (we used earth balance natural buttery spread) it is gluten free, lactose free, vegan and non-GMO.  Although it does list that the natural flavor is derived from corn so if corn is your problem, be aware of that.

Batter:
3 large eggs
3/4 cup water (or you can use a milk substitute)  we use water for most things and it is fine.  We still can't figure out why everything has to be some kind of milk based thing.
3/4 cup Gluten Free Flour (we used Bob's Red Mill)
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp aluminum free baking powder (you might be able to leave this out) I put it in because I thought it would help to make the batter rise.

Toppings:
confectioners' sugar
pure maple syrup
or - apple butter for even more apple flavor (note that pure apple butter does not contain butter.  Check the lable)

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Prep:
Combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice and toss them all together to coat them.
Next, melt the "butter" in the pan and saute the apples until they are soft.  The green apples seem to take a longer time, therefore holding their shape better in the end result.  Anywhere from 6 - 12 minutes would be ok depending on the apple type.
When apples are soft put them in a 8x8 square pan or if you have more apples, you can use a bigger pan.  The idea is to have enough to fill the bottom of the pan.

Batter prep:
Whisk the eggs and water (or milk) until well blended.  Add the flour, salt and baking powder and stir until it is slightly lumpy.  Pour the batter over the apples and bake until golden, about 20 minutes.
Put your desired topping on it and cut into pieces and serve.  YUM!

Post Tooth Work Tales

Awwwwww Mommie I can't believe yoo are puttin dis awful picshure of me on here.  See how my moufie  was swollen on one side and now when I lick mine lips sometimes my lip gets stuck unnerneath.  Ohhhh da uckyness of it all.

But all in all finally my gum is getting better where da stitches are.  No more swollen red.  Noooooooo yoo are not going to put dose picshures on here too are yoo???

Mom:  Ok, I will spare the other kittehs the educational aspect of feline mouth surgery and the things that could go wrong.  But let me tell you it is pretty gross if you are not used to it.

Phew!  Ok enuf of dat picshure stuff.  I am getting better really.  My gums are pink and black from da stitches, not red and swollen anymore.  BUT, den daddy decided to feed us some new kind of Wellness canned stinky goodness dat we are not used to and den SPLAT!  Stinky goodness re-do kinda like da exorcist all ofur da floor an all ofur my little sick bed I been using.  Hmmmm.  Smell good Daddy?  Bet yoo won't give us dat food again will ya?

And, Mommie, one more eye dropper full of dat anty-bye-otiks an yoo'll get to smell dat on yur pillow too.  Yeah. I'm feelin much better.

Toofie Update

We spoke too soon.  Things have not gone so well for Miss Angie.  She has an infection in one of the extractions.  Sunday we got to go back to the v.e.t. again for a visit.  Angie did not get to drive the car that day -- Daddy was driving... She wuzn't feeling well enough to want to drive anyway.  Antibiotics were prescribed and luckily we got some more pain meds because she was one hurtin' kitteh.  After more than 24 hours of the antibiotics she seems to be doing better but it still doesn't look that good.  At least she was eating today.  Tuesday morning will be a determination of whether or not she needs to go back to have the gum reopened to see what's going on inside.  Gosh does it break our hearts to see her looking like she is, licking her mouth and her tongue keeps hanging out.  Today she was much better than yesterday so we're keeping our fingers crossed.

Feeling Better

No driving the car back from the v.e.t. dis time.  It wuz dark when my lady finally came to get me.  Plus my eyes were still dilated an yoo don't want dat when yoo are driving!  Da peoples wif da woo woo noise an lights don't want anyone driving wif dem dilated eyes like dat. No sireeee!

I am furry happy dat Beau Beau did not growl an hiss at me when I got home so dats a good fing. My lady is also furry happy bout how fings went at dis v.e.t.

Ferst, da Cheshire Veterinary Hospital duz not smell bad.  Peoples do not haf to smell owr poops when dey drop us off. Next, my v.e.t., Dr. Colburn, called my lady three times to keep her updated wif my toofie progress.  Da ferst time Dr. C called to say she took x-rays an I had to have not only the left, but the right big front toof owt.  Dat made Mommie really happy so she was not shocked when she came to pick me up an find out more toofs were gone like when the old v.e.t. stole almost all Beau Beau's toofs an nefur said a word... Den Dr. C called back to say I wuz ok and woke up from da sleepy stuff.  Den she called again to say I wuz reallly awake and ready to go home and told her how to take care of me when I got home.
Plus, when I got home, I wuz not fallin all ofur da place like we were when we went to da old v.e.t.
I did go round an round an round in da clean litter box tho an I finally jus laid down in dare.  Dat wuz weird.  So, fanks Dr. Colburn.

All in all I will feel much better after a day or two.  Now if I can jus stop likkin my lips and trying to find where my toofies went?  Do any of yoo know if da toof fairy comes for kittehs, even if we have no toofs to put unner our pillows?

Toofless Thursday

Yep, i'd rather jump off dis table den go to the v.e.t. today..  Today I will end up lookin like Beau Beau, da one toof wonder.  Da v.e.t. lady said I had to haf my front left toofie out.  I wonder if dey will ask me dat and put a dot on my face like dey do to humans to identeefy what needs to be taken owt?  Hahahahah!  I just hope mine face looks ok after dat toof is gone.  Or am I gonna haf a little hole where mine tongue sticks frew it sometimes like Beau Beau's duz?   I will repurt back later after I get home from da torture place.

~Purrs, Angie

Beau Beau:  HEY!  All I wanna know is how come I DON'T GET TO EAT either???  I'm not goin to da torture place.  Somefin is very very wrong here!  I tried all da tricks wif da lady an she would not get up an feed me.  An now she has left da howse!  Oh boy.  I been huntin all morning an I can't efun find a spidey!  Help!
